The world looks different from the water.
Cruising brings the journey and the destination together. Sail across open oceans to far-flung islands and iconic cities, or follow legendary rivers through the heart of historic towns, vineyards and countryside. From spectacular resort-style ships and intimate yachts to elegant river vessels, there’s a way to cruise for almost every kind of traveller.
From your first cruise to your fifteenth, I'll help you find the right ship, sailing and cabin - and take care of the journey around it too!
WHY CRUISE?
You'll never want to travel another way.
Imagine waking up in a new destination without packing another suitcase, changing hotels or figuring out how to get there. Cruising brings the journey and the destination together — giving you the freedom to explore more while your hotel travels with you.

More destinations. Less unpacking.
One morning you're exploring an ancient coastal city; the next, you're waking up beside a sun-soaked island or charming seaside town. A cruise lets you experience more of any region in one journey, without repeatedly changing hotels, repacking your suitcase or arranging transport between destinations.
Your accommodation, transportation between ports, entertainment and much of your dining are bundled into one holiday. Depending on the cruise line and fare, even more may be included — making it easier to understand what your trip will cost before you leave.

CHOICE
There's a cruise for everyone.
Cruising isn't one-size-fits-all. Think action-packed mega-ships (like Royal Caribbean's Star Of The Seas, pictured here), intimate luxury vessels, adults-only escapes, family adventures, expedition ships and elegant river cruises. Finding the right cruise is less about asking “Do I like cruising?” and more about finding how you like to cruise.

THE JOURNEY
Getting there is part of the holiday.
Instead of losing hours travelling between destinations, spend them over dinner, at the theatre, beside the pool or watching the sunset from your balcony. Go to sleep at sea and wake up somewhere new.

EVERYONE'S HAPPY
Together, without doing everything together.
Cruises work particularly well for couples, families and groups because everyone can holiday differently — without actually holidaying separately. Kids can find adventure, adults can find downtime, and everyone can meet again over dinner.

EASY EXPLORATION
A taste of somewhere new.
Cruising lets you experience several destinations on one itinerary, making it an accessible way to discover places you may never have considered visiting independently. Find somewhere you love? You can always return for longer next time.

FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT
Your evenings are already planned. Or not.
From speciality restaurants and cocktail bars to Broadway-style productions, live music, comedy and late-night entertainment, modern ships can be destinations in their own right. And if your idea of an evening is simply watching the ocean from your balcony, that's perfectly acceptable too.
THE VIEW
There's nothing quite like waking up at sea.
Morning coffee on a balcony. A horizon with nothing between you and it. Sailing into a new city at sunrise. Some of cruising's best moments aren't found on an itinerary at all.

MYTHS ABOUT CRUISING
MYTH#1
“Cruises are boring and too structured.”
Reality: Your holiday. Your schedule.
There may be something happening from morning until night, but that doesn’t mean you have to do any of it. Spend the day exploring ashore, relax by the pool, book a spa treatment, join an activity or simply find a quiet spot with a view. Modern cruising is built around choice.

MYTH#2
“Cruises are only for older people.”
Reality: It’s about your travel style, not your age.
There’s no single “cruise crowd.” Some ships are designed around families and non-stop activities; others focus on nightlife, food, wellness, culture, luxury or adventure. Finding the right cruise is less about your age and much more about how you like to travel

MYTH#3
“Cruise ships are crowded.”
Reality: The right ship makes all the difference.
Cruise ships come in dramatically different shapes and sizes. Even aboard larger ships, you’ll find open decks, lounges and quieter spaces away from the action. Prefer something more intimate? Smaller ships and yachts offer a completely different experience.

MYTH#4
“Cruising is cheap and mass-market.”
Reality: Cruising isn’t one type of holiday.
Think of cruise lines like hotels: there’s everything from accessible, activity-packed resorts to premium ships, intimate yachts and some of the most luxurious travel experiences afloat. The key isn’t simply choosing a cruise — it’s choosing the right cruise.

MYTH#5
“You don’t really experience the destinations.”
Reality: Unpack once. Explore many places.
A cruise can take you to multiple destinations without repeatedly changing hotels, arranging transport or repacking your suitcase. And the experience ashore doesn’t have to mean following a large tour group — how you spend your time in port is entirely up to you.

MYTH#6
“Cruises are full of hidden costs.”
Reality: Know what’s included before you sail.
Different cruise lines include different things, which is why comparing the headline price alone can be misleading. Accommodation, meals, entertainment and transportation between destinations may already form part of the fare, while some premium and luxury lines include considerably more. Understanding the inclusions helps you see the overall value, not just the price tag.
MYTH#7
“It’s all buffets and mediocre food.”
Reality: Come hungry.
Dining has become a major part of the modern cruise experience. Depending on your ship, you might find speciality restaurants, destination-inspired menus and culinary partnerships alongside the traditional buffet — and for some travellers, the food becomes one of the highlights of the entire trip.

MYTH#8
“Cruise ships are unsafe or unsanitary.”
Reality: Health and safety are taken seriously.
Cruise lines operate within extensive health and safety requirements, with established procedures covering everything from sanitation to onboard emergencies. Fora’s guide specifically highlights the highly regulated standards under which cruise lines operate.
MYTH#9
“Experienced travellers don’t cruise.”
Reality: Sometimes cruising is the smarter way to explore.
Cruising can be an incredibly efficient way to experience multiple destinations in one journey. Instead of spending valuable holiday time checking out, travelling between cities and checking in again, your accommodation moves with you — leaving more time to actually explore.

MYTH#10
“I’ll be seasick the entire time.”
Reality: Modern ships are designed with comfort in mind.
Modern cruise ships use stabilisation technology to reduce movement, and there are remedies available should you need them. Your choice of ship, itinerary and even cabin location can also help make your first experience at sea more comfortable.
